American space technology has sure come a long way in the past 51 years

The picture on the left was taken in 1961, the picture on the right yesterday.

When the first picture was taken no American Astronaut had yet flown in space.

Today of course American Astronauts begin their journey into space  by catching  commercial airliners to Khazikstan and hitching a ride aboard a Russian rocket.
