The irony will be lost on the elite

This story fills me with grief and sadness - a woman gets drunk, falls asleep and smothers her newborn.

The hand wringing starts. The woman of course is from the degraded underclass - not one of "us", not one of the "nice people".

So we will lock her up to show how distasteful we find her, and put into motion hopeless processes to protect the young of the underclasses, to get more Government functionaries involved sooner.

But I can't help but think, had this infant been dismembered before birth, the way women from the classes that contain "nice people" do nobody would have batted an eyelid.

Indeed that process happens regularly in Government hospitals, paid for by taxpayer funds and on a scale that boggles the mind.

Best not to think about it.
